Hi everyone, welcome back! On the agenda this week:
💘Why the launch of Facebook Dating might be the final match before a ménage à trois between Messenger, Instagram, and Whatsapp.
💸The current state of Series A investing in Europe.
📝40 awesome questions to ask during tech interviews.
🛍And a goody bag for the road.
Let’s jump right into it.
Facebook Dating officially launched in the US. OK cool, but what’s in it for marketers? This post on Bloomberg touches upon it “Users can combine elements of their Facebook and Instagram accounts to create a separate dating profile—the most notable way Facebook has ever combined the two entities from a product perspective.”
As Facebook’s (core app) usage continues to slow down in key advertising markets (US and EU) Facebook will start to leverage its “Family" of services (including Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger) more and more. All combined, we are talking about services used by 2.1 billion people every day and 2.7 billion at least once a month!
Dating or not, the future of Facebook is about those DMs.
Great research and analysis (see tweet below) on Series A funding in Europe compiled by Michael Mashkautsan with Dealroom. “The report’s overall message is clear and positive: European startups are having a moment” – Kim Darrah, Sifted
